Mr. President. some days ago I called attention of tie Senate to a statement by the head of the Anerican Legion in which lie said there were 700.000 exservice men idle. Also I read a letter from the head of tile American Federation of Labor protesting against tile immigration bill Which has passed the House. is now before the Senate Collimittee on Immigration. and is to come before the Senate. The American Legion officials and also the American Federation of Labor have indorsed the principle. I have advocated in doing away with all immigration for five years. I introduced a bill to prevent further immigration for five years. and I have an amendment to the House bill pending before the Senate Immigration Committee to prevent immigration for five years. I have here a statement from President Hardings specil commissioner. Mrs. Lillian Russell Moore. who has just returned from Europe on an important mission for President Harding. She spent several months in Europe studying the imimigration question as it affects our counltry. She advocates doing away with all immigration for five years. which is in line with the bill that I have presented and the aniendment I offered which has been before the comiittee. I noticed in the Atlanta Joirnal a statement of Mr. Henry Ford. who was passing through Atlanta on his way to Florida. with reference to the bonus and umemployment. in which lie says lie is opposing the bonus.
