Mr. Chairman. in November of last year there was certitied to the Speaker of the House by the President of1 the United States. on the request of tile Labor Department. a recommendation for the appropriation of $300.000 to carry on the work of the Immigration Bureau for the rest of the fiscal year 1922. Every dollar that they asked was given. They asked for $300.000 and they got it. They have not asked for any more. There is no information in the possession of the Committee on Appropriations that they nee1 it. Nobody connected with the Labor Department has ever coinnuniicated directly or indirectly with anybody on the Committee on Appropriations so far as I know to say that they wanted that sum of money.
