Session #67 · 1921–23

Speech #670145690

The reason I urge that is that we are about 25 years too late to do today that which we see. now we should have done. What do I mean. you ask? Ah..gentlemen. if it were your mother or my mother lying there on Christmas night at Ellis Island. due to be deported. hopeless and crying for you. her son. who has made good. what would we do? What would any man do? Oh. we can not admit all. but we can limit immigration to the immediate blood relatives. We can not do otherwise. in my opinion. The United States can not take care of all the world.
