Pontus. as I have indicated. is a part of Asiatic Turkey. and the treaty of Sevres did not attempt to detach it from Turkey or to award it to the Kingdom of Greece. Notwithstanding the district of Pontus is under Turkish control. those belonging to the Hellenic nation could not be otherwise than profoundly interested in the Pontian Greeks. though they were subjects of Turkey and perhaps for an indefinite period might continue under Turkish rule. It may be interesting to present some historical facts concerning Pontus and its inhabitants.
