From this it will be seen that while the percentage of our alien. population in 182(0 was about onehalf of 1 per e6nt. it is today more than 8 per cent. The seriousness of tile situation becomes all Ihe more appalling when we consider that today our adult Populationthat is. persons more than 21 years of ageis in round numbers 60.000.000. and of this number more than 10 per cent are alien.
