Speech #670011370

I shall take just a moment. I am not going to discuss this matter at any length at all. Personally I am in favor of preventing any immigration to this country. at least for a period of years. I believe that we ought to stop immigration until we get those who are here fully. and thoroughly assimilated. I should like to see the citizenship of this country thoroughly American. making the interests of the United States. the welfare of the United States. and the peace and stability of the United States their supreme aim and object. I sometimes think there are many of our citizens who are really giving their highest allegiance to some other country. some other Government than our own.
