Session #67 · 1921–23

Speech #670005117

I ought not to take more of your time. This amendment includes the one just defeated. but I hope you will adopt it. because it takes care of those citizens in the United States who really are affected. Gentlemen talk about the immigration bill. I do not know whether I am going to vote for it or not. I do not know the exact object of it. I have probably devoted threequarters of my work since I have been elected a Congressmanperhaps because I am a new Bemberto a lot of citizens of my district in the city of Cleveland who want to get their relatives into this country. So far I have only been able to do it in two instances. Perhaps in a great industrial town like Cleveland we do not know as much about imnnigration as others. but the people in Cleveland are in favor oy a fair immigration bill. and I am inclined to vote for it. but I would like to have this amendment agreed to. so that the relatives of the people of this Industrial section can come over.
