Session #67 · 1921–23

Speech #670004495

Mr. Chairman and gentlemen. while we aire discussing this question of. immigration I think it is well to determine what we are going to do with a lot of tie folks who are already here. A delegation is today canvassing this Congress in behalf of what is called amnesty for political offenders. They are placing in the front rank of the heroes who should be released one Eugene V. Debs. who is confined in the Federal prison at Atlanta. I want to speak a few minutes about that proposition. which I consider more dangerous than the flooding of this country with a lot of people who want to work for a living and who are starving where they are.
