I have looked into the matter some little myself because of the fact that the al)plicant called to see me and presented the facts in regard to the case. In my opinion he ought to be naturalized. but I did have some little doubt as to the processes that should be employed in order to effectuate that result. I believe it would be better to authorize naturalization. removing such impediments as had developed by reason of his protracted absence from the United States. However. in view of the record of the man and his splendid service abroad. I shall interpose no objection.
