I read: I am glad to know that some one in Russia has at last awakened to a realization of the friendship that has existed between the American people and the Russian people. So far as the American Government and the American people are concerned. that friendship for the Russian people still continues. In dealing with the question of deportation of aliens the Department of Labor Is not concerned with the form of government adopted by or imposed upon the people of Russia. except in so far as our sympathies go out to those who are oppressed. Let me pause long enough to say that I approve of that expression. We are interested in the governments of all people. it is a friendly interest. one born of our desire to see freedom enjoyed in all lands. but if we had the power we would not interpose it to compel the Russian people to accept our form of government or any form of government.
