Mr. President. I am Interested in knowing the educational process which the Senator would employ in dealing with Emma Goldman and Berkman. and people of that class. and that is the class at whom the deportation statute is aimed. I fancy the Senator from Maryland would soon give up in despair all efforts to Americanize the class of persons to whom I have referred. Mr. President. the Senator asked me whether I believed that this propaganda would overthrow our Republic. and I stated that I did not. At the same time I approve of the act of October 16. 1918. to which the Senator referred. which forbids the coming to our shores of anarchists. or those who believe In the use of force and violence for the overthrow of this Republic. The same statute also provides for the deportation of tha.t class. I would deport them if they managed to evade the law and get into the United States. During our discussion the other day the Senator spoke in a complimentary way. as I understood him. of Secretary Wilson and Mr.
