Conceding accuracy. generally. to the press. I am inclined to think. however. that in this matter an error has been fallen into. Speaking for myselfand I think for other members of the committeeI desire to say there is no disposition to delay the passage of legislation at this session dealing with the question of immigration. I know that a number of Senators. members of the Committee on Immigrationand I am a member of that committeehave asked for speedy consideration of either the House bill or some of the measures which have been introduced in the Senate. I am reasonably confident that within a short time the Senate committee will take up for consideration the measures now pending before it and report some bill to the Senate. I believe that some legislation should be enacted before we adjourn.
