Session #66 · 1919–21

Speech #660192002

It is a question of whether it is a wellraised point or not. In iny opinion. under the process now of taking out citizenship papers it does not add to or detract from the desirability of the applicant. It makes a little bit more work for those engaged in the naturalization work and subjects a number of our citizens to a great deal of inconvenience and is no check so far as desirability or undesirability is concerned. This amendment is for the purpose of expediting the work of tihe department. saving expense there. and also the work of those in charge of the naturalization bureau.
