I introduce a bill and ask that it may be read at lenigth and referred. to the Comlnittee on the Judiciary. The bill defining sedition and providing a punisliruent therefor was read the first time by its title. the second time at length. and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary. as follows: Be it enacted. etc.. That any person who knowingly utters. writes. prints. distributes. circulates. or who knowingly aids in distributing or circulating any words or arguments urging. advocating. or inciting or calculated to incite resistance to law by force or violence. or who urges. advocates. or incites a change in the form of government or the Constitution of the United States except through or by the orderly. and duly constituted manner shall he guilty of sedition. and upon conviction thereof shall be fined not less than $5.000. and imprisoned at hard labor for not less than. five years. and if an alien upon the expiration of his sentence shall be deported from the United States and forever barred from reentering the United. States or any territory. under its jurisdiction.
