Speech #650233954

Will the gentleman permit me to call his attention to that section beginning on top of page 3 of the original bill. as followsAny alien serving in the military or naval service of the United States during the time this country is engaged In the present war may file his petition for naturalization without making the preliminary declaration of intention and without proof of the required five years residence within the United StatesAnd then recur to the question? I do not want to embarrass the gentleman. but he may have thought it out. I want to know if under that broad provision applying. to " any aliens" it may not apply to Japanese and Chinese who may be engaged somewhere In the Navy or the Army? Surely there are some on the ships and at Army posts.
