The press reports that were made soon after said that Marvin Campen. as I retnember. was removed because lie was not sufficiently vigorous ii prosecution. Mr. Campen. from documents I have in my ti)ssession. says that lie was removed because lie presented reasons why Mr. Stahliman himself was an alien and a naturalized resident of the United States and was not in sympathy with the prosecutioi of the war either before or since the declaralion of war. For that lie says that lie was threatened by Mr. Stahinan that lie would be removed. and his removal followed thereafter in due course.
