Tle amendment that is pending is an amendment that I have offered. and I do not want anybody .to misunderstand it. It was recommended by the Department of Labor. and Ihopethat it will pass. The distinguisied gentleman from Illinois the able exSpeaker. referred to tile impossibility of deporting these aliens. That is provided for and taken care of by permitting the President to make such rules and regulations as are necessary to carry it out. Not only that. but in the last section of the bill it is provided that the law shall not end at the expiration of the war. so that if these fellows undertake to throw themselves back here and say you can not deport me and that you can not conscript me. we can. answer them by saying. ".Tust as long. as you stay here you are subject. to this- deportationt and it must be carried out." I ask for a vote. and hope that the amendment will be adopted. [Applause.J
