Session #65 · 1917–19

Speech #650149165

I can not. my time is limited. I have not this foreign element that comes over here. a strain of anarchists and loudmouthed fellows. The people in iiiy district and their ancestors are all fullfledged Americans. The farmers are not aliens or foreigners waiting to be naturalized. They are nativeborn citizens. Of course. the people iln my country ar e loyal. patriotic American citizens and appreciate what the- Government is doing for them. And I wish to say further. my friends. that the patriotic farmer away back from the railroad. with his house on a hillside. when receiving a package of garden seed from his Government. from his Congressman. realizes that the Govermnent thinks something of him.
