I think that. instead of passing a bill of the kind under consideration. which -will breed trouble and discord in the United States. I .ssure you. it would be far better to introduce and pass a bill to let these patriotic Germans who will do so renew their oath of allegiance so that they may be known. not as alien enemies but as citizens of the United States. and let them fight with us. alongside of us. together with the very aliens this present measure endeavors to be impressed for our allies.
