Session #64 · 1915–17

Speech #640218201

Mr. President. I voted against the amelidment piroposed by the Senator from Wisconsin. which struck out the previous provision referring to undesirable aliens. Although there was no record vote. I was one of two who voted against it. I shall vote against this amendment. first. because I do not think that anybody here properly understands the sltua-. tion. and. second. because it is wrong. The suggestion made by the Senator from Wisconsin should be framed in such a way as to cover what he has in mind. but this provision excluding criminals should remain. The amehdmeat we are now considering is a part of section 28.
