Session #64 · 1915–17

Speech #640217057

Mr. President. I have a number of other amendments which I had intended to preseit. the import of which would have been to bar from this country all immigrants except those of tile white race. I lave sufficiently tested the temper of the Senate upon the amendments which have been offered. aild understand perfectly well that it would be futile to offer any further amendments. I have not the slightest desire to take the time ofthe Senate unnecessarily. I make this statement in justice to myself. in order that it may be understood that I do not offer further amendments because I recognize tid futility of the effort.
