I think the Senator from Minnesota has overlooked one of the important phases of this question of foreign labor. He says that the American laborer no longer desires to do a certain class of work. because it is drudgery. My own opinion about it is that American labor has been crowded out of those positions by foreigners. and that there has been a tendecly on account of the kind of immigration we have had in this country to degrade labor so that tile Anerican naturally. desires to get out of that sort of work and leave it to tie foreigner. vio wvill work under conditions that American labor wvill not subilit to. That seeiis to be one of the serious phases of the question that the Senator did nlot mention.
