It might not solve it to the satisfaction of those nations. It would solve the Asiatic question. I think. to the satisfaction of the Pacific coast more nearly. perhaps. than the rest of the Nation. But the Senator wanted to know how the general proposition might affect tile nations of the two classes coining from Europe. It would very largely affect eastern and southern Europe. but would hardly affect the other nationsthat is to say. England. Scotland. Ireland. and the Scandinavian countries. and Germanyat all. because the children are all educated in those countries. while that is not the case in eastern and southern Europe.
