I just want to make a statement in behalf of the junior Senator from South Carolina . the LIII03 chairman of the Committee on Iumigration. The Senator from South Carolina is absent at the be(d ide of a member of his family who is ill. and he requested me if this question was raised in the Senate. particularly if a motion was made. to state to whatever Senator was about to ilake the motion that it is his purpose as chairman of the committee to move to take up the immigration bill during the present session and before its close. I want the Senate and the country to have that information.
