The aliens who came to this country 20 or. 30 years ago. that class: referred to by my friend from North-. Dakota . are such people as. if we could get them today. there would be no objection to them. The gentlemen from Illinois: and: from New York quoted some sthtistics with reference to the number of aliens on farms. but the difficulty with our. present immigration: is. that- it does not go to the farms. As a matter of fact. it is not farmers and farm laborers: that are- coming now. A glance at the last two annual reports of the Bureau of Immigration shows that out of a total of 1.403.081 aliens. admitted to this- country for the fiscal. year ending June 30.. 1914. only 19120 are. classified as " farmers." For the year ending June 30.. 1915. of. the. 434.244 aliens. admitted. only 9.215 were farmers&"
