Now. the question of the militant suffragettes had nothing to do with the question. We did not think of that aspect of the case until the gentleman from Minnesota. Mr. Manahan. pointed it out. The amendment was not put in to control the preachment of the doctrine of the militant suffragettes. Allusion has been made to the clause in this bill on page 9. beginning with line 13. which it is thought relieves from exclusion immigrants who have committed political offenses. The existing laws says: That nothing in this act shall exclude. if otherwise admissible. persons convicted of an offense purely political not Involving moral turpitide.
