It Is a pleasure to find the President in a position in which we can give him our support. His veto of the immigration bill follows the example of his worthy predecessor in the White House. I shall vote to sustain him today. No man can outdo me in my zeal for a high standard of citizenship. nor can anyone go further than I in barring from this country anarchists and those whose criminal tendencies or aversion to wellordered governmeutor those who are so mentally or physically defective as to prove a burden or a menace to our people. But it has been declared by one of the advocates of this bill on this floor today that an alien can learn an alphabet in a single night and thus qualify himself for admission.
