I need to cite only one example to show thatthe example of. the immigration of the Palatines in 1709 and 1710 and following years to this country. admittedly one of the best elements we have ever added to our population. And yet those Palatines were homeless. roofless. without clothes in many cases. foodless. They had to live Upon. the mercy of the English people when they were camped about London. and had to be actually shipped by others to this country.
