Gentlemen who stand in favor of the unions and who believe that the coming of laboring people injure themI do not believe it. but there are gentlemen who do believe Itcould not certainly under any circumstances object to.the application or. rather. theremoval of this test from the agricultural laborer. for the reason that they can not under any circumstances belong to unions. and therefore can not injuriously affect anyunions. I confess. Mr. Speake r. that I hope this whole matter will go out. I wish we could exclude the literacy test entirely from this bill. I should be glad then to support th6 bill and to assist in making it what it. should be. I agree with those gentlemen who have said that it ought not to be in this bill under any circumstances.
