Session #63 · 1913–15

Speech #630387210

Mr. President. I have no objection. as I have already said. to taking out the limitation as to agricultural immigrants or the limitation about the power to purchase lands which. of course. relates only to the relief of the assisted or the induced. The plan was not to plant it in New England. It is not a place to plant agricultural immigrants. I am sorry to say. except in a very few favorite places. The plan was to give them an opportunity in the still unoccupied lands of the South and West. But I am perfectly willing that the limitation should be taken off.
