The last seven words of the amendment are "if employed in good faith by farmers." Immigrants may come to the port of Boston. or to the port of New York. and claim to be farm mechanics or farm machinists or farm laborers skilled in certain farm work. If the requirement is that they must be "employed in good faith by farmers." how can they be allowed to enter?
