Mr. Speaker. the bill before the House at the present provides foir the erection of an immigration sttttion in the city of Baltilnore. where we have no station whatever. a lthough we are receiving something around 40.0110 inmmigrants this year. We had last year 294 sick people in the hospital. of whom we lost 49. The hospital is an improvised one. being in old building used for tht purlpose. and it has been for several years past. notwithstanding that it is absolutely unfit for tile purpose: The bill before us has been amended by the committee. It originally approlpriated $600.000. and was cut down to the amlnount of $550.000.
