Session #63 · 1913–15

Speech #630162821

The farmers of this country in the past have borne more of the burdens of government and received less returns for their labor and capital than any other class of our citizens. Their work iz mere important to all of us than any other. If the day shall come when our very national life shall tremble in the balance. the:. treasure and their blood will be our Rock of Gibraltar. The fife and drum never sounded in vain a the farmers gate when our country was in danger. and in this new day when the streams of nativity are diluted with hordes of immigrants in our congested cities we must more and more look to the farmers. who produce our national wealth. for the sustaining strength of our free institutions.
