Why. no. and I do not think our farmers would want to hold a man in any sort of bondage or anything of that kind. All they want is simply the opportunity to solicit farm laborers to come. The trouble is that if a farpm laborer starts from the old country without a definite destination in view he is apt to get caught in New York and never get to the farmer. If he has a letter from a farmer. he is apt to go on to his destination. and if this amendment is adopted. the farmers may perhaps get their fair share of this immigration Which they are surely entitled to.
