Session #63 · 1913–15

Speech #630135068

Mr. Chairman. as a member of the Committee on Immigration. thoroughly indorsing the bill reported by that committee for the regulation of immigration. I think that my position with reference to the proposition of keeping out any class of undesirable immigrants is very thoroughly and clearly indicated. but I do not believe it is wise or patriotic to inject this particular question into the consideration of the bill which we have before us at this time. Every gentleman in this House knows that it is dealing with an international situation which is now being considered by those authorities of the Government who are charged in the Constitution with the duty of negotiating treaties.
