Session #63 · 1913–15

Speech #630135051

I have not gotten to this Congress yet. Mr. Chairman. All the California Representatives in Congress for many years have given a written pledge to their people that they would work and vote for the exclusion of Asiatic labor. Those declarations I have in my office. 1. did not bring them with me. because I did not think this question would come up today. My colleague secured himself to be appointed chairman of a subcommittee to consider my bill. No. 13500. in a Democraticcomiittee. Mr. IIAYE.S. Mr. BROWN. al Mr. REILLY of Connecticut represented that subcommittee. and I want to say to this House that it took me two months to get a hearing on that bill.
