The gentleman from Tennessee . as I understand. expected to move to suspend the rules and make it in order to take up the Senate bill in place of the House bill. upon the same conditions under which the House bill is being considered. I do not know how it strikes the rest of the House. but it seems to me that that request ought to be granted. Otherwise we will have the House and the Senate working to no advantage. and my desire is to find out whether it would be practicable to agree by unanimous consent to dispose of the Unanimous Consent Calendar. which. of course. can be disposed of. if some gentleman desires to object. in five minutes. and then give the gentleman from Tennessee the right to make his motion. after which we could take up the immigration bill.
