Session #63 · 1913–15

Speech #630132139

Last year every Member from Kansas on this floor received a letter from a gentleman connected with one of the great railroads in that State asking them to vote against this bill. because they said they had to have those Mexicans as laborers. Whose places do they take? They take the places of Americans and former immigrants from the other countries of Europe. This bill is not aimed against the Jews. as I have said before. because we allow them. if they can read their Yiddish or Hebrew. or if they are fleeing from religious persecution. to come in. A distinguished Jew from the East Side.
