But the Senator must remember that pig iron is the raw material out of which iron and steel bars are made. and the cost of pig iron here and abroad is very material in determining the question of the proper duty on these derivative products. I am not going to detain the Senate by referring to the statement of the Senator with reference to the danger from Asiatic competition. but at the proper time. before we get through with the consideration of the schedule. I shall take that up for purposes of discussion. and I think I will be able to show the Senator that there is absolutely no danger from that source. But.
