My attention has been called to the following statement in tile Sac amento Union. of June 24. 1913. in regard to certain cases that inoffe and were disposed of during the last administration : "United States Attorney John L. McNab. while awaiting a reply from President Wilson to tis telegram of resignation tonlght. launched another broadside at Washington by exposing an indirect attempt to bribe him in a whiteslave case. and by declaring that Assistant Attorney General Harr. even though advised of this attempt at corruption. overruled the judgment of the United States district court and ordered released from custody three notorious French woolen who had been ordered deported from the United States. Mr. .McNab made the direct accusation that Harr has. for some unknown reason to himself. distinguished himself during his occupancy of office by violating ai procedure of the United States courts and releasing women of notorious character from arrest and deportation orders. even when apprised of an indirect attempt to bribe the prosecutor of the cases against these women.
