Mr. Chairman. it seems to me that the amendment is germane. The committee amendment to the Senate bill Is an amendment providing additions to the classes that shall be included under. the immigration law. This simply adds another class to those that are to be excluded. Mr. Chairman. on Saturday last the gentleman from Illinlois asked that I anie some one of the persons who have appeared before the Committee onoImnlgration and Naturalization who testified to facts which demonstrated the truth of the extrdct from the annual report of the Commissioner General of Immigration. which I caused to be read by the Clerk. I had not then the record of the hearings at hand. It seems to me unreasonable to expect a Member to remember. anong many scores of witnesses. the names of those who testified to certain facts. especially when the testimony of the witnesses covers a long period of time.
