As I say. it has been demonstrated. to a larger extent than my colleague from Illinois will admit and to a much larger extent I have no doubt than is known to most Members on the floor oi this House. that this sort of work is going oti in this country. and the immigrant is brought in not for his good. not for the good of this country. but in order that lie may add to the income of the steamship companies and be exploited generally by his own countrymen in this country. who make it a business to prey upon the ignorant and unprotected immigrant vho comes here. I think there is no question about it. I am surprised that my colleague would deny that this is the fact.
