Session #62 · 1911–13

Speech #620257999

There were gentlemen upon each side of the House. and I believe I am safe in saying as many Republicans as Democrats in proportion to the numbers of each. who asked me to allow the bill to be passed over until the next session of Congress. I said to them that I was in favor of passing the bill at this session. and I wanted the Committee on. Rules to give me a rule. and that if my Committee on Immigration were reached on any Calendar Wednesday I would be there. as I have been here every Calendar Wednesday and stayed through until the gavel fell at the end of the day. for the purpose of trying to get that bill and place it upon its passage.
