I did not make the request which I did for the purpose of shutting out consideration of the immigration bill. but because it is perfectly patent to anyone with brainsand the gentleman from Georgia has plentythat the bill will not be considered in the House at this time except under some such arrangement as I suggest. and no one objects to this bill. Now. anyone can object to the consideration of this because they want some other bill to come up which they know will not come up. It is immaterial to me. I was simply trying to get the bill passed with no one objecting to it.
