There is hardly any Senator upon this floor who is more radical than myself upon the race question. I believe we should preserve this country for the white man and for the white race. I would by law bar out from immigration all save those of the white race. without invidiously referring to any other race. If I had the power. I would write in the Constitution tomorrow a provision confining the franchise to people of the white race. without taking the privilege from those of a dif9 912. ferent race who now have it. but confining the exclusion to the future.
