Speech #620031623

I am not prepared to dispute that statement. because I have not investigated as to the particular vocations which those people entered. I simply know that the report shows that 124.000 people from the United States went into Canada last year and 94.000 from Canada came here. This means that the percentage of immigration from Canada into the United States is larger than the percentage of emigration from the United States into Canada. But Canada will. in the course of time. be developed. and hundreds of millions of bushels of hardy shortseasoned wheat will be produced. but I repeat. that will be when there is a market for it and that market will be caused by the increased consumption of wheat and by the decreased production in other at present wheatgrowing sections. Today the production of wheat in the United States is the greatest in the history of our country. and it will never be less. but only about one farmer in five grows wheat.
