Mr. Chairman. that would make an increase of one clerk of that class. and if the amendment carries. I propose to follow it up by an amendment Increasing the clerks of class 2 from 6 to 7 and the clerks of class 1 from 6 to 8. so as to make the authorization what is requested by the Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization. Frankly. Ido not think that the Committee on Appropriations is very much to blame. on the statements the bureau made. for not giving them all the clerks that they require. A statement of the real need for clerks has not been made. so far as I have been able to read the hearings.
