We hear a good deal of talk about the influence upon American character of the newly arrived immigrant. particularly tie immigrant from southern Europe. but we have not any real information. and we can only get real information by a careful study. elaborate and extravagant. some would say. conducted by such a commission. I venture to say that the most interesting report that will be made to Congress this session is this report by Professor Boas on physical assimilation. A partial report has been made. but has not yet been published.
