I. offered this amendment in Committee of the Whole. The Senator from Ridde Island requested that I should not introduce or press it until we came into the Senate. Now. does he think it is fair to move to lay it on the table? I would prefer the Senator to have it given a more fitting disposal. I know he is going to oppose it. in order to further the speedy passage of the pending tariff bill. but I should like to have it referred to the Committee 9n Immigration. so that it may be carefully considered and taken up at the next and regular session.
