Mr. Chairman. I move to strike out the last word. for the purpose of making an inquiry of the chairman of the committee in charge of the bill with regard to a section passed yesterday. on page 97. "Expenses of regulating immigration." The proviso which appears on page 98 sets forthThat on and after July 1. 1909. all head tax collected pursuant to the provisions of section 1 of the said act of February 20. 1907. together with all fines. rentals collected. and moneys received from other sources under the laws regulating the Immigration of aliens into the United States. shall be covered into the Treasury to the credit of miscellaneous receipts. I desire to ask the Chairman whether the committee in the consideration of this proviso passed upon the question of the availability of such appropriations out of the immigrant fund. which this provision proposes to abolish. as have already been made and not yet used.
